I’m loving this Monotone wordpress theme (demo here, in case I’m no longer using it). It’s a dedicated photo blogging template which changes its monotone color to compliment the posted pic. But it can be hard to use for more regular blog entries, especially if you write articles that has some pics which are not necessarily for a proper photoblog entry. Even the Archive template assumes that you have a picture in every entry, as it displays only thumbnails — text-only entries will appear as gray rectangular strips. I wasn’t planning for a dedicated, photos-only blog when I created this account, so I might revert to a more regular theme in the future, or if I love the theme too much, then I’ll keep this as my photoblog and create a new, text-entries blog.

Taken using a battered Nikon F from 1973, loaded with Kodak Gold 200 film and armed with a pre-AI Nikkor 105mm f/2.5. One of the very first shots I have ever taken as a hobbyist. I wanted to find out if the camera was still working so I dragged my dog and my sister to Fort Bonifacio and took some pics. Film was processed by a Fujifilm outlet and scanned straight to CD (no prints).

What photoblog would be complete without a photo of the day? Though at the rate I’m shooting, it will probably be more like a photo of the week. Here’s a shot which is part of a collection I’m slowly building.

This was taken at the grounds of the Muntinlupa Sports Complex. The building itself is your usual sports center, with basketball courts, ping pong tables, and an area for martial arts classes. Outside though, there is a grass field outfitted for softball, a huge parking lot, and a miniature version of Manila’s baywalk. (the place is beside the sea) On weekends the area is filled with people jogging, biking, or walking their dogs. The place is a treasure trove of photographs waiting to be taken.

For now, this is all I’m posting here. The subject could have been positioned better, I know, but believe me when I say that this is the only shot I could take where there was nothing else in the frame. If I moved the camera by even few a pixels, I’d get the beginnings of a vehicle, or a person, or some other object at the borders.

Familiar subject with a small dose of Gimp (contrast and desaturate), but hey I’m a noob!
